Bicycle Facilities
Adelaide is one of Australia’s most bicycle-friendly cities, with wide, flat streets, dedicated bicycle lanes, and an extensive cycling network. If you are travelling with a bicycle, Adelaide Airport has facilities to make your journey safe and easy from the moment you arrive.
What Bicycle Facilities are Available
Free of charge bike racks are located in 3 locations:
- Northern Entrance to the Airport Terminal
- Southern Entrance to the Airport Terminal
Tips to Pack Your Bicycle
Airlines require bicycles to be packed in a box or bag to be accepted as checked baggage. Check your airline’s baggage policy before you fly.
Remove front wheel
Secure it next to the rear wheel inside the box
Turn handlebars
Secure the handle bars parallel to the frame
Detach pedals
Removing accessories helps the bike fit securely in the box
Deflate tyres
Deflating the tyres slightly helps prevent damage during flight
Bicycle Box Recycling
During major cycling events in South Australia, organisers collect the boxes left by arriving passengers and give them to departing cyclists for free.
Where to Collect Your Bicycle
Oversized baggage is collected from a separate door near the baggage carousels. Follow the signs marked Oversized Baggage Collection or ask airport staff for directions. We offer free trolleys to help you move your bicycle and bags.
